Live watching the game I have been witnessing an up and down game with tight defense at times and awful other times from the Cavs. On the Laker side it has been from strong to weak. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to record bicarbonato today thanks to this game.
Seems that the podcast we recorded on tuesday was awesome and many people have like it quite a bit. The official name end up being Cyberia ..vida online. The episode was pretty good, we had a good talk and most of the time I spent talking, but in the end the show went more dynamic. With people talk about their experience and dependency on the network.
I think as we go along making new shows we should be able to talk more about technology, development and more geeky stuff oh the web.
BTW Cavs won the game with Lebron rhyming at the end of the game :)

So right after our second episode of Bicarbonato podcast finally be launched we can’t wait to start our biweekly podcast “La Vida Online” (the online life), which we will be about to launch in the near future got me all excited. The aim of the podcast is basically have a different view of technology based on what is the online lifestyle, the way we move on relationship to relationships from people to technology to ourselves to the usual behaviors we are all exposed. The goal is basically have a tour into the internet, how does it affect our lives, what is out there to consume but also what is there to produce. From becoming an honorable Wikipedia editor to come to the bottom of the barrel at 4chan.
From the flamewars in Slashdots comments we want to celebrate the online life and the popular places where geeks hang and behaves their lives around it. I think this Podcast is unique since not many people focus about this. From a person that has lived his life Online to the fullest from finding job Online, girlfriends, friends, coworkers, and eventually leading a global open source community, “La Vida Online” will give Hispanic listeners a whole view of how can this Online life affect them or transform their environment.
This Podcast could be good if it was in English but given the backwards I see the Online community around, I hope that this information can inspire people to step up and develop their own online life and become a internet celeb not by falling out of a tree crossing a ditch but by having a great open source project used by millions or even making great money having an awesome web x.0 company that achieve global scale.
The podcast will actually is loooking into becoming a vidcast, blogposts and other sources so that people can also learn about technical tips and things that will enrich the overall media and life online.

Recently I was featured in the podcast from the Java Hispano community a podcast I discover in Campus Party and download a couple of shows. I was pleased with the content since is geeky enough to interest most developers and also has information that could be valuable for most people. The contact was thanks to Eric Camacho from Java Mexico which is a sub community within the Java Hispano sphere. Most of the people involved are developers that have big projects based in Java and keep updated with things related to JAVA like JSP, JSF, Structs, Groovy, Spring, GlassFish, NetBeans and also development practices, testing, and other things that could interest most people involve not only wiht Java but with development in general.

OpenOffice.org being a Sun product is very influenced by technology surrounding Sun, and having things like a MySQL connector based on JDBC and different components like the scripting framework, makes it relevant enough for this show. Also I knew that being involved with this show I could show OpenOffice.org on a different light and show them the development opportunities that OpenOffice.org offers through the UNO API as well as other tools that have make it easy for developers to use OpenOffice.org as well as develop tools on top of it.

NetBeans and OpenOffice.org integration module

Easily create OpenOffice.org extensions with NetBeans

The interview started quite predictable with the usual questions about the story of OpenOffice.org, my role in the project, and the same for ODF. Eventually we got into the more technical part about the structure of OOo, the tools to develop for it and finalize with the business aspect of the OOoES project and the way it can help service companies throughout the world in support for migrations, trainning and other needs.

Bajan Beach

From my point of view, 2009 has been an extension to 2010, basically a stronger development of projects on the professional task of making OpenOffice.org a viable project with independence and more robust roadmap. This year I establish the OOoES as a legal entity, I celebrate contracts with first clients, and got structure an organization.

This year I came close to become a part of the OpenOffice.org Community council and finally gave a talk at OOoCon2009. As a matter of fact I had 4 talks of OOo including some projects where I am playing a key role including OOo4Kids, ODFKit, and OpenOffice.org Certification. With more experience also dealing with people and a more ‘closer’ attitude I hope that 2010 continues my education on making and starting deals.

In basketball I lower my exercise but also came back to be a passionate NBA fan and following my team thanks to online video I was able to follow last season as well as the current. I was able to record my first video playing basketball in a while and also got a new ambition to go back into competing.

On the traveling side, I was able to go to many places, including Barbados, Barcelona, Canary Islands, Brazil, Rome and United states. I was able to travel also withing Mexico and also got in touch with some friends I haven’t talk in a long time. I got to meet long time friends like Leandre and felt happier of having someone to care for.

Technologically speaking I didn’t accomplish more except of maybe keeping trace of whatever is hot including, html5, Google technologies, and some more python.

This year I got to hang a lot more with old friends from school including Victor (College) and Lalo (high school), Alejandro (high school) and now working together on doing something that could be interesting. Also I saw how hard life was for some of my friends and many others I wasn’t able to meet at all. Actually I am quite surprised this year there wasn’t many meetings from friends. However I was able to meet a new community of friends that we share the same passion for technology through the twitter network, we are further getting together to come out with cool stuff to do together including a vidcast and now we are thinking on a network. Another group of friends might come from another acquired passion which is hiphop which this year was rewarded with an unexpected comeback to the Wu renaissance with Only Built 4 Cuban Lynx Pt II and Ghostdini. But a whole crew here in my hometown became visible enough for me to catch the show and maybe even be part of it in the future.

I still burning for an unmatched desire to come back to Europe and stay for a while, same thing in the U.S. and unfortunately I haven’t been in the position to do this, I hope next year I would be able to breakout. I also hope to meet new people and continue my good relationship with my friends. I also hope to get back in shape and workout and also improve my overall health and lifestyle improve in quality.

Jazz is one of my favorite musics, I really love the way sax sounds and the mellow instrumentation that is played in between is really a concert of pretty high melodic notes with very surreal loop of almost indistinguishable sound. So has my work been today, just a full amount of work work work. However I have been very productive today. Beside the regular email replied I finally got to audit one of the last guides, and even thought there still one to go, this has been almost the conclusion of my project.
Next up is the work with OpenOffice.org localization and more exactly, pootle. The Pootle localization tasks this period has been extremely intensive and the strings that showed up look almost infinite. However with some free time and good music on the background and even with the help of The Computer Action show. It helped me gain some sense and if not concentrating on the work at least distracting me enough to not feel the huge amount of time dong mind numbing tasks.
Yesterday I was able to finally watch on of the most anticipated movies of the year, I have been waiting for this movie since July and nothing happened, not even now October, almost to be over 2009. The movie even if it shows on tv now, I still haven’t had the chance to look at it and what is worst, it seems that it will take just another week or to to show. So I finally went on-line and got it. The movie is awesome, the plot, effects and everything in between didn’t disappointed. I do believe there was some level of racism but in general I think the whole movie was about exactly that.
All in all I had a very productive weekend even if I didn’t got to go much away from my room I was able to finish many things that I have been procrastinating and feel better now that they show some significant development.

So these past weeks I haven’t blog as much. However I have been doing lots of good stuff. First I have got back in talks with the client in south america as well as polished my presentation on drupal for this friday. I have spent the time also on sites like oDesk. ODesk is an outsource/freelancer site to sell your skills throug the web and something very interesting for what could be the future of support tools.

Another thing that has happened this week is the launch of my new podcast on HPR. We start with a talk on QtWebkit which is a new development framework to create web desktop app. We dedicate some time to document ourself but not enough and honestly this wasn’t meant to be a show but since we already record it and went back and forth on it we just decided doing that. Some of the interesting comments were talking about the dynamic dashboard and how can these tool help us design interesting desktop apps. In the end there wasn’t a definitive conclusion, actually the end was a bit abrupt since the recording got cut unintentionally during the call.

Finally I been really downloading a lot of audiobooks. My favorite so far is Confessions of an Economic Hitman a book by John Perkins which is the interesting story of economist that inflate the economy of a country to get huge loans and burry the countries into debth in the name of progress and pushing forward the US empire.  There is a video on youtube, actually there is a whole array of videos that you can check out there.

If you want to chat about that with me, please let me know through the comments and we can set up a chat session since I really want to share my thoughts with other people.

So as you can see it was a very productive week and hope this carry on for the next one.
