We had a good cycle with many people participating with the QA and other aspects of the builds like testing it for different platforms. I think we did a good job overall. This launch feature OOo new image and logo.

The CAVS are back for the last effort in their 2009-2010 regular season and they have reach the wonderful number of 60 wins again. This means that they are almost about to clutch playoff and final’s home court advantage. Yesterday night LeBron and Co. drove the Hawks to the ground on the last quarter to an 88-93 W.

The last minute LeBron steal the ball to come with a huge dunk that make the highlight of the day:

To be honest I think the Cavs are a bit slacking, I am not sure just because that’s the methodology but is a risky one. LeBron basically spend most of the three quarters passing the ball, and trying to get other teammates involved. Then he takes charge on the 4th quarter by holding the ball for most of the play up until 10 seconds remaining to start a play. This limit the Cavs to just 1 pass play at most. Also LeBron sometimes doesn’t shoot that well and trying to get himself in rhythm might cost the game just to not work for the Cavs.

Today I read the article by NBA columnist Shaun Powell and made me think on Jordan’s life, and the impact he has have either in my life and the values that he has highlight during his career. With arguable failures in Baseball and return to the Wizards, he still know that at the end, you are remembered by your success and not your failures. His pretty insightful Nike commercials about his career failures yet successes.
I have followed this older Jordan struggles and successes on the life of Businesses and how can his values can take him to a level most people are actively waiting to see. We all know Jordan is wealthy but even as a player just guarantee to afford a lifestyle that he needs to portrait after his career. However as a game owner he has the chance of actually reaching a new level of wealth.
When I was young I read one of Jordan’s many books, it was very insightful on his thoughts during the ages that I saw him win champion after champion, and even thought it arguably could have been a great PR spin and reality might be less heroic is true the bottom line is hard to ignore. Regardless of what really happen, his successes did reflect his hard work ethics, convinced determination and even through many broadcaster like Ahmaad Rashaad highlighting the high competitiveness of his persona.
So this new game doesn’t require a bat, or a hoop, but will definitely need to score and score big time. While most ex NBA player transition to become Coaches, and TV personalities, Jordan went all out to become the owner of an NBA expansion team which also will demand the best, the greatest to keep delivering and see this team succeed just with a pen and lots of autographs on checks.
This won’t be the first time I ask the question on “What will Jordan do?” but now a lot of business people that grew with you will start looking up to you and repeat the same question, and still want to be like Mike.
Yeah this sounds like an ass kissing post, well who really cared, cuz I know I am not the only one, and even deep down, you wish you know you could write it up like this.
Like Mike... I want to be like Mike

Live watching the game I have been witnessing an up and down game with tight defense at times and awful other times from the Cavs. On the Laker side it has been from strong to weak. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to record bicarbonato today thanks to this game.
Seems that the podcast we recorded on tuesday was awesome and many people have like it quite a bit. The official name end up being Cyberia ..vida online. The episode was pretty good, we had a good talk and most of the time I spent talking, but in the end the show went more dynamic. With people talk about their experience and dependency on the network.
I think as we go along making new shows we should be able to talk more about technology, development and more geeky stuff oh the web.
BTW Cavs won the game with Lebron rhyming at the end of the game :)

This season start with a large expectation of Cleveland dominating the league with Shaq and Lebron James on the startups but after the very beginning we saw them loosing too many games, more than the whole season last year. However today the Cavs have re-founded their strength and adjusted their game play to fit Shaq into a rotation as well as making Lebron an enabler more than the weapon. At the same time the great game versus the Lakers sent a message that the East still has the weapons to take the crown this year and whenever Boston, Cleveland or Orlando or even newcomer Atlanta will be the big contenders for the title.

Cavaliers are back in the No 1 spot and the way they have won the games in L.A. Phoenix and Atlanta, says that Cavaliers are ready and will succeed in the long term.

Bajan Beach

From my point of view, 2009 has been an extension to 2010, basically a stronger development of projects on the professional task of making OpenOffice.org a viable project with independence and more robust roadmap. This year I establish the OOoES as a legal entity, I celebrate contracts with first clients, and got structure an organization.

This year I came close to become a part of the OpenOffice.org Community council and finally gave a talk at OOoCon2009. As a matter of fact I had 4 talks of OOo including some projects where I am playing a key role including OOo4Kids, ODFKit, and OpenOffice.org Certification. With more experience also dealing with people and a more ‘closer’ attitude I hope that 2010 continues my education on making and starting deals.

In basketball I lower my exercise but also came back to be a passionate NBA fan and following my team thanks to online video I was able to follow last season as well as the current. I was able to record my first video playing basketball in a while and also got a new ambition to go back into competing.

On the traveling side, I was able to go to many places, including Barbados, Barcelona, Canary Islands, Brazil, Rome and United states. I was able to travel also withing Mexico and also got in touch with some friends I haven’t talk in a long time. I got to meet long time friends like Leandre and felt happier of having someone to care for.

Technologically speaking I didn’t accomplish more except of maybe keeping trace of whatever is hot including, html5, Google technologies, and some more python.

This year I got to hang a lot more with old friends from school including Victor (College) and Lalo (high school), Alejandro (high school) and now working together on doing something that could be interesting. Also I saw how hard life was for some of my friends and many others I wasn’t able to meet at all. Actually I am quite surprised this year there wasn’t many meetings from friends. However I was able to meet a new community of friends that we share the same passion for technology through the twitter network, we are further getting together to come out with cool stuff to do together including a vidcast and now we are thinking on a network. Another group of friends might come from another acquired passion which is hiphop which this year was rewarded with an unexpected comeback to the Wu renaissance with Only Built 4 Cuban Lynx Pt II and Ghostdini. But a whole crew here in my hometown became visible enough for me to catch the show and maybe even be part of it in the future.

I still burning for an unmatched desire to come back to Europe and stay for a while, same thing in the U.S. and unfortunately I haven’t been in the position to do this, I hope next year I would be able to breakout. I also hope to meet new people and continue my good relationship with my friends. I also hope to get back in shape and workout and also improve my overall health and lifestyle improve in quality.

So Lebron is one of the smartest players on the court right now. He portrays a cool, in-control dude that knows analyze and is focused on the ultimate goal. He doesn’t mind about sweeping teams but to get to the championships. However Nike has another idea on what Lebron should be. Making his alter-ego waaay too excited about his recent achievements, taking the Cleveland Cavaliers to the number 1 spot in the NBA even thought they failed a very nice mark, wining and MVP and classifiying into the playoff.

This hillarious commercial takes the rivality between Kobe and Lebron to a whole new angle. This hillarious commercials show a puppet (or muppet) of Kobe and Lebron getting ready for the playoff. And while Kobe is all cool and relaxed, muppet LeBron is in extacy, running around the room from corner to corner yelling about the MVP and getting excited is playoff season. A complete opposite of what LeBron is right now, focused and even too serious and unanimated about his achievements.

However this couldn’t be a blog if there was no ranting going on. I wonder what was the point of Nike? I mean LeBron is very collected, and even thought he is just 24, he still very collected and not making passionate remarks, so why portray him as inmatture? Maybe is like the relationship between Penny Hardaway and Lil’ Penny which was a more wilder version of Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway.

Comment if you find this commercial funny :)

I havent been blogging much beside technology, however I would like to give an update on non-tech related news. Recently I have been in a mission to loose some weight and do more activity specially wiht my passion for basketball and I have been going to play basketball with Lalo, my high school friend.

However last week, I injured myself by twisting my ankle and was unable to walk or almost 4 days. The injury was serious since I jump high for a rebound and then my 110ish kilograms fell on my twisted ankle making it really painful and sending me to rest for almost a month.

Well, I am just on week 2 right now and even if I can walk almost normal i still feel pains and I still see my ankle swollen so i think I still will be resting for at least 1 more week.

To be honest the resting time has been a bit stressing and even if I escape a couple of times to the cafe shop or got some visits from my friends I still spend most of my time in my room and it sucked.

The bright side of all this if there is any is that I have had time to watch the NBA Playoffs which have been great. Awesome games and awesome plays have been in game after game almost everyday and really cool stuff that I have been able to watch.

First series has been Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers who pretty much smashed the Detroit Pistons 4 games to 0 after really four amazing games where Lebron has at least had 2 great dunks per game.

Another series that probably has been the more amazing is the current champions Boston Celtics versus the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls have surprised everyone and have really done an amazing effort to make this series really competitive.

Two other series on the east has been kind of like a surprised too with Magics and Heat being the favorites having upsets by the 76ers on Orlando and the Atlanta Hawks on Miami.

The west has been also very competitive but we knew already that and homecourt weights a ton. however some teams have been able to diminish others way easier than expected. Specially on the case of the Spurs versus the Mavs and the Hornets versus Denver Nuggets.

Lakers and Jazz has been very predictable on the opposite almost like Hornets and Denver they diminished them and has been a total control by the Lakers who are favorites to earn the crown in the west.

So far so great, let see how it all comes out next week. I think I am hooked into basketball as much as I onced did.
