So yesterday we had our weekly meeting from the twitter group I was looking forward to talk about the new things that we could be doing with Rubix. However what I wasn’t expecting was the great tutorial I got from @antuaworld about the music software he use, called Virtual DJ. I find it being a great piece of software and also a great tool for parties and others. I usually found myself pretty lost with the lack of information about how to use these music software. The UI seemed so similar to what in my mind looks like complex hardware UI full of nobs and sliders and tiny digital screens.

However when someone that had finally figure out start telling you which nobs are the important, everything start making sense, this is really some reality check as the further along I was able to do is some odd sampling on Hydrogen and I still haven’t been able to figure out JACK, I am really excited to see these software actually come to life in the hand on someone that actually used it.

So in the end I was very pleased by the explanation of how to do scratching from many devices including the webcam, and how many of the effects work but what I was more interested was the thought process to actually take care of the percussion, the fader, and many of the  musical elements on each track to be able to sync and go from one mix to the next.

Today I submerge into trying to test the mixxx interface and doing some sampling just for funcies, the result was horrible but there was a slight sense of achievement since I got a taste about going from one song to the same one, to basically time shifting on the same artist and then flipping the tune to another. It was great, although probably not for the regular listener.  At the end it was FUN!!!
