Background

BBV Banco Bilbbao Viscaya Mexico, is a transnational Bank from Madrid, Spain. BBV has locations on many countries around the world including USA, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, France and others. BBV in Mexico has expanded its operations to other activities besides regular banking. Some of these activities are wholesaler, store and other financial activities.

Present State of the Company

BBV Banco Bilbao Viscaya was merged in fall of 2000 with a Bancomer a Mexican bank. This merge was one of the most importnant in the financial industry in Mexico. The move was adopted to be able to compete with other big banks such as Bital and Banorte.

Opportunities

BBV transition has been smooth and the company has maintained their consistency of success. BBVA Bancomer currently listed on the IPC as (BANACCIO) is one of the blue chips on the Mexican Stock exchange. It has outperformed the market expectations even with the recent slow down on the world economy.

Experience

During the time I spend in BBV, I had the chance to cooperate and learn the tools of the international trades, such as the letter of credits, types of credits, and international commercializes. I also got the change to learn important tools such as the LIBOR rates issued by the bank of London and the credit classifications like the AA and AAA.

I count with some basic but important skills such as web savvy, strong PC skills and a remarkably good communication skill on English and Spanish. This last one let me communicate with international branches in New York and London.

Result

I went to BBV Banco Bilbao Viscaya of Mexico for different reason the first was for the experience of taking part of an international corporation. The company counts the resources to employ my international business background. Another valuable experience was the corporate culture and organizational behavior that transnational have and induces on their employees. The result was a good internship that gave me experiences and tools that I was foreseen to achieve.
