Language

My experience with language was narrow until recent years. My school was a bilingual (English-Spanish) school which enhance me with the ability to be pretty good at both. However, away from English my ability to pick up new languages hasn't been tested until recently. In the past two years I have set a goal to learn at least two languages more: Portuguese and French.

Why Portuguese?

Because my international business major and my background I will be able to see opportunities in Latin America where Spanish is dominant however Brazil is the biggest Latin American market and represent a good opportunity to be able to speak fluently the Portuguese language.

Another reason is because it will be one of the easiest language to learn (Italian would be another one) because of their Latin roots.

Why French?

French can be one of the most widely spoken language as far as in politics and other topics is greatly rewarded. English is the official language of business however arguably French might be the second and can also represent a good transition from the Spanish language.

The business opportunities from the French language is a great resource in Africa, Canada and the Caribbean. It is also widely spoken throughout Europe and some parts of Latin America.

What's Next?

After mastering those languages I am looking forward to learn Japanese. I have a deep feeling and study about the Japanese culture as well as their methods to do business. I also wish I can do business with Japanese companies in the future as I see it as great challenge which fuels my ambition to learn the language.
